Brookdale to Expand Memory Care at Two Communities in Georgia for $9.5M

ROSWELL, Ga. — Brookdale Senior Living (NYSE: BKD), the largest seniors housing owner and operator in the U.S., will spend $9.5 million to expand memory care facilities at two communities in the northern Atlanta suburb of Roswell.

At Brookdale Roswell, the company will construct an $8 million single-story building to house 34 memory care apartments. Brookdale expects to finish construction by spring of 2016. Brookdale Roswell, which sits on a 32-acre campus, currently offers independent living villas as well as independent and assisted living apartments.

At Brookdale Historic Roswell, Brookdale is investing $1.5 million to convert a floor of the existing building to increase the number of memory care apartments from 19 to 34. The dining room will also be expanded, along with the addition of a spa and more common areas. Brookdale expects to complete the project by the end of 2015. Brookdale Historic Roswell currently offers 58 assisted living apartments.
