MORGANTON, N.C. — Carolinas HealthCare System Blue Ridge has started a $15 million renovation project at Grace Ridge, a 52-acre continuing care retirement community (CCRC) in Morganton.

Located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the project is a collaboration between the owner and GMK Associates.

Renovations will include enhancements to community spaces on the third through fifth floors and the addition of a café and lounge on the first floor with outdoor seating, retractable awning, fire pit and mountain views.

Other improvements include the addition of a medical clinic, spa and beauty salon and remodel of the health care wing and commercial kitchen, which will include an outdoor grill and seating area. The interconnected game room will be converted into a lounge meant to replicate a college-style common area.

Construction has begun and all projects are slated for completion in late 2019.
