PHILADELPHIA — Cathedral Village, a continuing care retirement community in Philadelphia, has completed a $3.2 million renovation to upgrade the energy infrastructure on the 40-acre campus.
New Jersey-based energy management company ENER-G Rudox performed the renovation in conjunction with clean energy specialists, Blue Sky Power, MCFA Global, and Ray Angelini Inc. to design, engineer, construct, and finance the sustainable makeover of the facility.
The infrastructure improvements were financed using ENER-G’s ‘Energy Services Agreement,’ where communities pay no up-front investment in exchange for signing a 20-year contract. ENER-G estimates the renovations will save the community $145,000 annually in energy costs.
The Cathedral Village project received support from both state and local sources, including a $500,000 grant from Pennsylvania’s Commonwealth Financing Authority and $123,500 from PECO’s Smart-On Site Program.
Cathedral Village is affiliated with Dillsburg, Pa.-based nonprofit operator Presbyterian Senior Living.
