Intergenerational Living Breaks Ground on $72M Community in Minnesota

by Jeff Shaw

STILLWATER, Minn. ─ Intergenerational Living & Health Care Inc. (ILHC) has broken ground on The Lakes at Stillwater, an independent living, assisted living and memory care community in the Minneapolis suburb of Stillwater.

Phase I of construction will include The Lodge, a 139-unit independent, assisted living and memory care community. Phase II, Birchwood Landing, will include 30 independent living, single-story, two-bedroom villas. Phase III, Sandhill Shores, will add 70 one- and two-bedroom age-restricted apartments.

ILHC is a Minnesota-based nonprofit organization that tries to create intergenerational programming to bring children and seniors together. The plot was strategically chosen for its proximity to Rutherford Elementary School, and the community will host intergenerational programs. The campus will be located on 50 acres.

The Goodman Group, a Minnesota-based seniors housing developer, is leading the development. Other partners on the project include Welsh Construction as general contractor, Trossen Wright Plutowski Architects for architectural services, Northland Real Estate Group as co-developer, and Landform Professional Services for civil engineering and planning services.

ILHC will own and operate the community once completed.
