BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Methodist Homes of Alabama & Northwest Florida has unveiled plans to renovate, expand and rebrand Fair Haven, a continuing care retirement community in Birmingham.
The rebranding effort includes a new logo and dropping “Retirement Community” from the name, as well as transitioning to Action Pact, a type of household model of care. The new model, to be introduced in January, creates a home-like environment with private bedrooms and bathrooms with a set of shared common spaces and amenities, as well as wider freedom for schedules and activities.
Construction and renovations will include a new long-term care building, assisted living building, independent living suites and rehabilitation center. The physical changes are estimated to cost $42 million, according to Birmingham Business Journal.
Construction is already underway. The first phase will open for residents in January 2017. Additional independent living and assisted living apartments are scheduled to open in fall 2017.
Methodist Homes is a faith-based operator of 13 seniors housing communities in Alabama and Florida.
