by Jeff Shaw

BRUNSWICK, WELLS and WESTBROOK, Maine — Massachusetts-based owner/operator Northbridge Cos. and Portland-based developer Sandy River Co. are set to break ground next week on three new communities: Avita of Brunswick in Brunswick, Avita of Wells in Wells and Stroudwater Lodge in Westbrook, all in southern Coastal Maine.

The new communities are part of Northbridge Companies’ expansion in Maine. Both Avita communities are exclusively for memory care residents.

Slated to open in fall 2016, the three new communities will cost $65 million to develop.

Stroudwater Lodge will be feature 95 units located adjacent to the existing Avita of Stroudwater memory care community that opened in Westbrook in 2013. Stroudwater Lodge will offer both independent living and assisted living options.

Each of the two new Avita communities will include 60 units in approximately 47,703 square feet.
