SHAWNEE, Kan. — Real Estate Equities Development, a Minnesota-based development and management firm, has opened Village Cooperative of Shawnee, a 53-unit community for seniors in the Kansas City suburb of Shawnee.
The 55+ community is a seniors cooperative, a type of active adult community that allows residents to share the costs of common amenities. According to the developer, this is the first seniors cooperative to open in the Kansas City metro, though the company has several others in development.
The three-story building features units ranging from 876 to 1,602 square feet.
